The Eurographics Symposium on Rendering 2005 (EGSR2005) will be held at the University
of Konstanz, Germany, starting June 29th and ending July 1, 2005. The Symposium on
Rendering is an event in the series of highly successful Eurographics Symposia held
during the past 15 years.
During the three days scientists from all continents will present their work on image
production, computer animation, visualization and related subjects. During the past
years, the conference has become the primary place for scientists to present the latest
developments on this subject.
In conjunction with the conference, the
Konstanz Power-Wall,
the first European
high-end display of this type from Barco, with a native
resolution of 4640x1920 pixels on a screen of 5.20 x 2.15 m, will be presented.

The keynote speaker at the Symposium will be
Daniel Pletinckx,
Coordinator of New Technologies and the EPOCH Project at the renowned
Ename Center for Public Archaeology and Heritage
Presentation. His talk will focus on the use of augmented and virtual reality in Cultural
heritage, and whether the use of such technologies is helpful and / or wishful in the context
of heritage projects.
Mr. Pletinckx' primary areas of research include system design, digital image processing, digital
image synthesis, 3D graphics and virtual reality. As Coordinator of New Technologies, Daniel Pletinckx
is responsible for designing new cultural heritage presentation systems and oversees planning,
development, quality control, and management of the Ename Center's heritage presentation projects.
